Poland has a large demand for cleantech solutions and will receive EUR 2.4 billion during 2014–2020 for water infrastructure and waste water management. The investments are mainly funded by EU structural funds. Allocation of this sum of money for projects starts right now.

In municipal water and waste water sector, investments are expected to be completed by end of 2018 including: constructing of 16 000 km of sewage lines, building over 90 new waste water treatment plants of smaller scale, modernizations and extensions in over 300 plants. In addition, modernization of sludge treatment in almost 200 waste water treatment plants is due. The Małopolska region around Kraków is the 2nd biggest recipient of the structural funding in Poland.
