Finnish cleantech expertise was successfully presented at FIHAV2016, the largest and most important trade fair in the Latin America, in Havana, Cuba in November 2016. Cleantech Finland cooperated with Casa Finlandesa Ltd. to make the event a success for participating companies LamorVaisala and Championdoor.

Cuba's Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca, opened the fair and in his talk stressed the trust and consolidation that foreign investors have in the Cuban market. All in all, companies from 75 countries and 15 high-level delegations along with 67 chambers of commerce offices from around the world participated in the event. All sectors of Cuban economy took part in FIHAV, including Sustainable Technologies, Infrastructure, Oil and Gas, Industrial Machinery, Education and Information and Communication Technologies.

Cuban cleantech market open for Finnish companies

Participating in FIHAV Havana is a proven point of entry into the Cuban market. Cuban buyers and other stakeholders consider attendance as a part of the pre-selection process. Exhibiting at FIHAV is also a proven growth strategy for international companies in Cuba as presence at the event can result in finalized business deals.

"For Vaisala it was very important to participate in FIHAV2016. The main Cuban authorities were there and it was very productive to be able to have face-to-face meetings with them. After the initial contact it will be much easier to establish a working relationship," says César Guerrero Córdoba, Regional Sales Manager, Vaisala.

In general, confidence in the Cuban market and doing business with the country is growing and nothing shows it more than Havana's FIHAV Trade Fair.
