Finland world’s 5th most innovative country - Global Innovation Index 2016

Finland retains its place among the world’s most innovative countries in the 2016 edition of Global Innovation Index (GII). Finland is ranked 5th, climbing one position from 2015, with Switzerland taking top spot, followed by Sweden, UK and USA respectively.

Finland is 1st overall in the category of Human capital & research and 2nd in Institutions while in Infrastructure and in Creative outputs Finland's still has some ground to cover for top positions.

GII 2016 is the 9th edition of the innovation ranking and is co-published by Cornell University, INSEAD, and the World Intellectual Property Organization (a UN agency).

Recently Finland was ranked the 3rd most innovative country in the EU​ in 2016 European Innovation Scoreboard by the European Commission.
