Finnish cleantech expertise strongly represented in Forbes Global 2000

Finnish cleantech is strongly present in Forbes Global 2000 – the annual ranking of the biggest public companies in the world. Eight companies from Finland made the list, with six of them representing Finnish cleantech expertise. Forbes Global 2000 ranks companies based on revenue, profits, assets and market value.

Kone, a global leader in the elevator and escalator industry, is the highest ranked Finnish cleantech company in 768th place. Kone also made the cut as the only Finnish representative in Forbes’s top 100 of the world’s most innovative companies in 48th position. 

Bioeconomy companies UPM and Stora Enso are the remaining two Finnish companies in the top one 1000 at 770th and 932nd respectively.

Neste, the world’s largest producer of waste and residue-based renewable fuels, is in 1040th position while Energy company Fortum is 1353rd. Wärtsilä, a global leader in complete lifecycle power solutions for the marine and energy markets, is ranked 1435th.        

The other two Finnish companies on the list are Nokia, that took top Finnish billing in the list in 360th place, and insurance company Sampo at 449th.
