Finnish people flow giant KONE will provide elevators and escalators for 30 metro stations in Chongqing, southwestern China. In total the delivery consists of over 200 equipment units along the Chongqing metro line 5, currently under construction. In addition, KONE won the bid for 33 elevators and 21 escalators in the Guangxi Autonomous Region of South Central China.

Chongqing metro line’s first extension phase includes 57 elevators and 166 escalators, estimated to help ease the flow of urban life for some 15 million people monthly. Chongqing is one of China's five national central cities.

The development of Liuzhou Poly International Center in Guangxi comprises of a 54-story office and hotel tower that reaches a height of 248 metres, along with a shopping mall. Some 3 000 people are expected to use the equipment on a daily basis.

The main developer of the Chongqing metro line 5 is Chongqing Rail Transit (Group) Co., Ltd., and the main contractor is China Railway Second Bureau Electric Engineering Co., Ltd. The project is expected to be completed in 2017.

In Guangxi, alongside elevators and escalators, KONE is to deliver its Destination Control System and will link all equipment to its remote monitoring solution, KONE E-Link. The developer for the project is Poly Property Group Co. Ltd, and the project is expected to finish in 2017.
